MEET THE ARTIST

My name is Laila Aaris.
I’m primarily self-taught - shaped by hours (and years) of experimenting, layering, and learning through doing. Along the way, a few guiding hands and moments of formal training have definitely helped deepen the journey.

I came to painting as an adult, after spending years in biochemistry labs, working in graphic design, and running my own business.
 

What began with childhood pencil sketches has grown into a more intuitive, textured practice - where city pulses, quiet portraits, and untamed creatures take form through palette knife and edge.
 

My style resists easy labels. I follow instinct over genre and focus on presence
- whether it’s a person, an animal, or the silence that surrounds them.

Art is where I recharge.
It’s my quiet place - part structure, part soul, part play.
And for me, it’s everything.
