ARTIST STATEMENT

My work is about the feeling a place gives you...
- the physical pull of what you see.

I paint with palette knives and brush, building layers
of texture, light and colour that invite you closer.

There is often a sense of wanting to step into the surface,
to follow the marks, to stay a little longer in the atmosphere.
 

The inspiration comes from moments in cities and places...
- like a harbour at sunset or a quiet street after the light has changed
- but what I am really interested in is how they feel, not just how they look.

I want the paintings to hold that moment
when something visually pulls you in and stays with you afterwards.
